The newest video in our Designing with TPEs Series highlights the importance of tensile properties when selecting a thermoplastic elastomer for your application. Tensile testing is done in order to determine the tensile strength of a material. Tensile strength is the maximum stress that a material can withstand while being stretched or pulled before failing or breaking. Tensile strength is very important to consider when selecting a material for your part or application because it will help you determine the amount of force it can withstand. This is especially helpful when looking for materials for pet leashes, bicycle rack straps, and dog toys.
