Prakash Sanjeevaiah Ph. D., head researcher at Star Thermoplastics, addressed this very topic as a featured speaker at NPE2015: The International Plastics Showcase, as part of the Education sessions known as SPI: The Business of Plastics Conference.

The education series offered at the conference provided timely topics with business implications, and Dr. Sanjeevaiah focused on critical trends and needs of today’s products and how styrenic based TPEs have responded to these needs. Participants from around the globe attended Dr. Sanjeevaiah’s presentation, Current Solution Trends in Styrenic Thermoplastic Elastomer Technology.

  • Safety and Health
  • Environmental Awareness
  • Aesthetics
  • Economics in Use

“I’m extremely pleased to be speaking about this dynamic topic to such a prestigious global audience as we continue to develop strategies to improve styrenic TPE material options and functionality,” said Dr. Sanjeevaiah.

In his presentation, Dr. Sanjeevaiah also discussed product attributes such as clarity (click here for more info), softness (click here for more info), heat resistance, physical properties, bondability/printability, noise and vibration damping, cleanliness (click here for more info), surface engineering (click here for more info), and many others, which have always been important in considering styrenic TPEs for applications.  In addition, he addressed meeting the rapidly changing regulatory needs associated with polymer choice.
