Looking for a soft, colorable, durable, easy-to-process rubbery material for your new or existing product?

What is a TPE? | Thermoplastic Elastomer

FACT: The average person uses a TPE five times before lunch

Thermoplastics’ elastomers (TPEs) are flexible, rubbery materials that can be repeatedly stretched without permanently deforming the shape of the part. Unlike Thermoset rubber, TPEs do not require curing or vulcanization, as they are true thermoplastics. TPEs can be used in injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and 2-shot molding to create durable, long-lasting parts. TPEs can be very rigid or very soft and gel-like. Star Thermoplastics’ TPEs have become widely used, in thousands of products.

Thermoplastic elastomers are copolymer materials made from formulations containing both soft elastomeric and hard thermoplastic properties. They are also known as thermoplastic rubber materials and are found in various areas of manufacturing. Some of the most common processing methods used for thermoplastic elastomers are injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, over-molding, and extrusion.

What We Do

We offer some of the broadest lines of TPE formulations in the industry. Here at Star Thermoplastics, we provide soft, colorable, durable, easy-to-mold thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material and research driven solutions. Our TPEs can boost the appeal of an existing product, replace a material in an existing product, and add to its longevity over its lifetime. All of our materials are formulated and manufactured in the USA.

Who We Are

Our partnership with any customer starts by working together to understand the requirements of the project and to identify or create suitable material solutions. The results are materials that are processing-friendly, aesthetically-pleasing, and specifically designed for the requirements of the end product. We bring our team expertise throughout the entire process, from concept to production, quickly and efficiently. From polymer modifiers, to high performance TPE alloys, to TPEs that can outperform TPVs in some areas, you can count on Star Thermoplastics for the right material for your application.
