STAR THERMOPLASTICS INTRODUCES NEW MEDIFLEX LINE OF
TPEs FOR MEDICAL PRODUCT AND TUBING APPLICATIONS

STAR Thermoplastics Division of STAR Thermoplastic Alloys & Rubbers, Inc., a leading compounder of TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers), will be introducing its new line of Mediflex compounds for medical product and tubing applications at the upcoming NPE.

According to company sources, the new Mediflex TPE compounds will be available in grades from very soft (8 Shore A) to very hard (60 Shore D) to meet a variety of applications needs. For tubing applications, the grades are designed to replace latex as the compound of choice. All materials are medical and FDA grade.

Suggested applications would be tourniquet bands, syringe tips, suction bulbs and nasal hoods in addition to all sizes and shapes of tubing, including drainage tubing. Benefits to product manufacturers who use the STAR Mediflex TPE grades are the products will be non-allergenic, recyclable, and versatile in that they can be colored, translucent or clear. The materials have no carbamates and no potentially hazardous extractables like thermoset rubbers. Further, the end products will exhibit excellent low temperature flexibility.
