STAR DEVELOPS CLEAREST, SOFTEST TPE IN THE INDUSTRY

New TPE Grade Ultra-Clear and Super Soft

STAR Thermoplastic Elastomers Division (Star Thermoplastic Alloys and Rubbers, Inc.), has developed new ultra-clear TPEs for use in the medical, consumer and sporting goods marketplace. In addition to offering exceptional clarity, the new TPEs are also some of the softest available today. Sold under the name Optiflex TPEs, the compounds are available in numerous grades.

The Optiflex grades are available in ranges from 30 to 60 Shore A. The exceptional softness of the material make it a preferred compound for applications where grip, clarity and aesthetics are important. Some applications of the product include grips for bicycle handlebars and golf clubs, plus overmolding applications, to name a few. Currently, the TPE industry has little to offer in Shore A ranges from 60 to 85. STAR TPEs are engineered to bridge this gap and offer performance at excellent prices. Optiflex compounds are 75-93% clear, offering advantages for "see-through" grips and other applications where visual clarity is important.
